Mariah Carey Accepts Michelle Obama’s ‘Voting Squad’ Challenge

Mariah Carey accepted former First Lady Michelle Obama‘s “Voting Squad’ Challenge,” which urges participants to get their friends together and vote early in the U.S. presidential election, as a number of states are already accepting votes ahead of the November 3 polling date.

The singer posted a picture on Instagram of her and her circle of friends who accepted the challenge.

“I am here with my #VotingSquad and we’ve all made our plans to vote! Please be sure to make your plan too. Your voice is important,” she wrote.

The photo features Carey’s boyfriend Bryan Tanaka, actor Billy Eichner, makeup artist Kristofer Buckle and hair stylists Dior Sovoa and Serge Normant.

Obama made the call on Instagram on Tuesday, saying, “We can’t let anyone sit this election out, so I need your help: Reach out to the friends and family members who might need a reminder to vote, make a plan to vote together, and then challenge three friends to do the same.”

As the first step, the former First Lady challenged her “When We All Vote” co-chairs to vote, tagging Faith Hill, Chris Paul, Kerry Washington, Shonda Rhimes, Liza Koshy, Selena Gomez, Megan Rapinoe, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Janelle Monae and Lin-Manuel Miranda in her post.
