I was asked to write a bio for you. It’s a bit of a challenge and feels like bragging, but I have to do it.
Just read the following like a concerned grandmother from the lower east side of New York City.
I am one fortunate S.O.B. who gets to entertain you (that’s my hope anyway) weekday afternoons from 3-7pm. The show wouldn’t be what it is – unexpected brutal honesty with a smile and a rock soundtrack – without the long and crazy career I’ve had in this business. Having worked in various ways in broadcasting ranging from a Military journalist/paratrooper, to working in TV news, radio news, as a producer for NPR, and an on-air personality for multiple music formats, it has prepared me for the insanity that is The Short Bus with Mick.
You may here some weird voices along the way. Don’t worry. They’re the ones in my head. Fortunately they’re friendly.
After winning the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters ‘Radio Personality of the Year’ for 2013, I thought it was a mistake. Then they awarded it to me again in 2014, 2015, and 2017. It is humbling to be recognized by my peers for simply being me. My goal is to make milk come out of your nose while you blaze your rock horns.
So, tune in for a laugh, Mick’s Take, the Safety Helmet Challenge, and of course some great music.
I’ll catch you on the bus!
(P.S. You didn’t have to read it. You could’ve jumped to the bottom here and had Morgan Freeman read it for you.)
